This stained glass window is located on the campus of the University of Kansas. It resides at the fraternity, Phi Gamma Delta. The four pillars of the fraternity’s foundation are etched onto a violet flashed glass, as is the owl which sits above the shield. All the glasses are of hand blown antique glass. The memorial plaque is a red flashed on blue and reads "In memoriam, George Robert Temple". I believe Mr. Temple was one of the founding fathers of the fraternity. The central shield is a red flashed on amber. The rosettes were masked off and the background was etched off, thus leaving the amber color. The stars, within the shield, are on a violet flashed clear. After all the flashed glass was etched, it was placed into a kiln and fire polished. This brings the surface of the glass back to the original sheen.
